If you asked me last week if I wanted to go eat at Gretzky’s I straight up would have said no. “Pub food,” I would have said, “isn’t my style.” But after tasting their new menu I feel like a whole new woman. To be honest, I’m counting down the days until my next visit.
The pull for me to try their new menu was because of their subset Oasis (Gretzky’s rooftop patio). Oasis was the last restaurant in Toronto I ate at before I moved to England. And when I came back to Toronto it was the first place I was dying to try. At that time though (about three years ago), it was closed for renovations. So when I got invited to this menu tasting, I had a strange desire to see what it would be like — a hope that I could find a new spot to love at Blue Jays Way and Mercer.
Unlike traditional pub food, this menu was infused with options the whole family would love. Combine the words fried, healthy and creative and you have Gretzky’s. The menu design was just as bold as it’s options, with buffalo cauliflower, pulled pork tacos, pomegranate hummus and a salmon rice bowl to add a new punch to traditional pub food. And let’s not forget the fried chicken and waffles, which was balanced enough that you didn’t feel guilty for eating it!
As someone who’s always ‘on a diet,’ there were options that would have me feeling guilt free. In a sense, it encompassed everything my guy and I look for on a casual night out: he can watch his hockey and indulge at the bar, and I can get spoiled with delicious wine and food that fits my lifestyle. Now all we need is tickets to a Jays game to top it all off :).
To give you a taste of the new Gretzky’s menu we’re giving away a $50 gift card! Whether you’re heading down there after a sporting event or simply wandering around our bustling city, we want you to experience what this new menu has to offer.
